Just yesterday this gray Microsoft Internet Explorer box started popping up every time I went to a different web page. The box stated this : Your current security settings prohibits running Active X controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly. I'm almost certain something has changed my security settings, but what should my settings be as far as all the Active X options are?
Download signed Active X controls...
Download unsigned Active X controls...
Initialize and script Active X controls not marked as safe...
Run Active X controls and plugins...
Script Active X controls marked safe for scripting...
Disable, Enable or Prompt for each?
Thanks in advance.
IE Security Settings question....?microsoft project
Use a better browser than Internet Explorer, such as Firefox or Opera and you wont have to worry about the exploits that come with using Internet Explorer and it's Active X controls.
IE Security Settings question....?microsoft powerpoint internet explorerhow come people keep choosing answer that is not directly related to the answer *sighs* Report It
Because security is utmost at my job, here are the settings on my office computer:
My setting for the Internet is at Medium-High and I have the following:
Download signed Active X controls...prompt
Download unsigned Active X controls...disable
Initialize and script Active X controls not marked as safe...disable
Run Active X controls and plugins...Enable
Script Active X controls marked safe for scripting鈥nable
Hope this helps your problem.
If you did not set the site to trusted or restricted list, follow this:
Internet option -%26gt;security-%26gt;Internet-%26gt;custom level-%26gt;
Download signed Active X controls - allow
(flash player and some other plugin need this to run)
Download unsigned Active X controls - disable
(never download unknown activeX)
Initialize and script Active X controls not marked as safe - disable (to be safe)
Run Active X controls and plugins - allow
(your previous setting only download "signed active X" so maybe it's safe to run any downloaded active x here. (you need this to run flash player and other plugin anyway)
Script Active X controls marked safe for scripting - enable
To be safe, you should run antivirus active scanner and firewall to defend yourselve. Run ccleaner free to wipe all temp internet files once in a while to rid of cookies/spyware on the temp folder. Hope it helps.
Make sure that the site in question has not been placed in the Restricted Zone by some security software. Off-hand SpywareBlaster, IE-SPYAD, Spybot S%26amp;D (inmunise) and I believe Webroot Spy Sweeper place known malicous sites into IEs Restricted Zone which will prevent the use of ANY active-X. Look for the red icon at the lower right of IE.
